The PHILIPPIDES One -Name Study commenced in Sept 2017. It is progressing in the data collection stage, currently focusing on the collection of birth, marriage, and census records worldwide to establish a basic foundation of linkages between the various Philippides family branches before undertaking more detailed research on individuals.

I would encourage all Philippides descendants to join me in the quest to identify all family members in the history of the world .

The Guild of One-Name Studies is the worldwide centre of excellence in one-name studies located in London, England. One-name studies registered with the Guild are global in scope. A one-name study may concentrate on aspects such as geographical distribution of the name and the changes in that distribution over the centuries, or it may attempt to reconstruct the genealogy of the lines bearing the surname both in ancient and modern times.

Our lineage of the PHILIPPIDES bloodline is an ancient Greek bloodline from Attica /Athens which reaches back to the ancient times of Alexander the Great and King Phillip II of Macedonia.

Oxford Historians and leading scholars both recognize that interbreeding within Greek aristocratic families is obsolete, as was also determined with the lineage of Cleopatra VII and her Ptolemaic bloodline.

So is the case with our " Philippides"  lineage. There is no outside connections with other nationalities.

Our Philippides lineage connects us to an Athenian  oligarch  "Philippides of Paiania".

Philippides is an ancient Greek name meaning "Son of Philip"; Philip means "lover of horses". The name Philippides is also seen as a derivative from the ancient Greek name "Philippos/Philippus" . The Greek origin of the name Φίλιππος (Philippos, lit. "horse-loving" or "fond of horses" is from a compound of φίλος (phílos, "dear", "loved", "loving") and ἵππος (hippos, "horse")
