Layla Taj is an authentic Egyptian Cultural Dance Artist from Greek Egyptian Heritage. She is an aristocrat that hails from the prestigious Philippides bloodline. The right genes combined with her artistic dance and erudite performances has molded Ms. Taj into one of the most respected performers in the educational assembly.
Her multi- media cultural program "JOURNEY DOWN THE NILE" has received rave reviews from professors, teachers and Egyptian enthusiasts. Her multi-media performance study program educates the public about the history, culture and tradition of Egypt through dance. The program includes five short films which explain the history of each dance, some reaching back to biblical times. Modern dances are also included along with classical Egyptian musical scores and lavish Egyptian costumes. One of her most famous signature dances called "Wings of Isis" depicts the Macedonian Queen "CLEOPATRA. "
In 2011 ,The Egyptian Tourist Authority presented the program at The Jacob Javitzs Center for the Egyptian Ambassador. The crowd that encircled Ms. Taj after the program caused a spectacle. No one could get enough of her powerful presence as Cleopatra Vll. Sommer Brokaw /staff writer the Sun Charlotte attended the cultural program and was known as saying "As I sat in the audience, I couldn't help but hear people whispering during her show , people were saying that it was the best show they've ever seen in their life".
Egyptian Professor Mohammed Wahba approached Ms. Taj after her show with tears in his eyes stating "You've made me so proud today to be Egyptian."
Journey Down the Nile has been presented at Hofstra University, Gold Hall in Hewlett- Harbor Library and Elmont Library in New York just to name a few. There is no other program in the world like it to date. It has been written up in world news publications making front page news.
Ms. Taj was been trained in Cairo, Germany and Sweden by top master teachers of Egypt such as Mahmoud Reda ,Raqia Hassan and Dr. Mo Gadawwi.
She has lived in the Middle East to honor her contracts in Cairo, Sharm El Sheikh and Dubai as a daily performer in the top five star hotels and resorts such as ,The Hyatt Regency and The Sheraton Towers and Casino in Cairo.
Her resume entails an impressive list of clients such as political leaders, heads of state, Saudi royalty and kings of countries.
